prelude to world war?

Events in the Middle East are appearing strangely similar the 1930s appeasement of European fascism. I hope and pray that some big event does not force us into a war of world proportions. On the other hand, I am skeptical that the majority of Americans and Europeans will come to their senses and stand up against the Islamofascist bullies.
