chic[k]pilot
This is not a time when women should be patient. We are in a war and we need to fight it with all our ability and every weapon possible. Women pilots, in this particular case, are a weapon waiting to be used. — Eleanor Roosevelt, 1942.

iran snubs its nose at the geneva convention
Terrorists who hide behind children and women's clothing violate the Geneva Convention and they are freedom fighters, but British soldiers in uniform are not so special.
FIFTEEN British sailors and marines arrested by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards off the coast of Iraq may be charged with spying.
A website run by associates of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian president, reported last night that the Britons would be put before a court and indicted.
Referring to them as “insurgents”, the site concluded: “If it is proven that they deliberately entered Iranian territory, they will be charged with espionage. If that is proven, they can expect a very serious penalty since according to Iranian law, espionage is one of the most serious offences.”
I think Ahmedinejad needs to actually read the Convention, especially part 3.

mr. ellison goes to congress...
... to teach us tolerance and justice?
Can you imagine the reporting were another politician to speak to a crowd that responded: Hallelujah! Jesus is Lord? I doubt that it would be portrayed in a positive light. And the early signals from Ellison are very troubling for America and especially American-Muslims.
***
Given that it's Ellison who wants to inject Islam into politics, what Muslim nation is it that Ellison can point to as an example of a tolerant and just society? Which great Muslim leaders is it he can hold up as examples of an enlightened vision for peaceful co-existence with other religions? I see no great Muslim legacy at all when it comes to advancing human or civil rights.
